Summary

While this driver is enabled in the build for both i386 and amd64, I
strongly suspect it is a de facto i386-only driver. It was added to
the tree back in 2002 for IBM ThinkPad laptops of that era that were
likely all 32-bit only. It also supports only a few strings that are
a subset of information available via SMBIOS.

If I'm reading it right, this is a BIOS-boot-only data structure. It falls into the BIOS search class, looking for these data in a restricted subset of locations.
It's utterly safe to remove.
