Both words are used in forums and chats as informal word. In freebsd_ru Telegram chat (1484 users now) they was used (times):
клетка 3 - today, 8 - week,
джейл - 5 today, 10 - week.
тюрьма - 1 today, 1 - week (almost not used during year).
Some of the users use first version, Some of them - second.
In articles 'клетка' translation usually is used. My first translation was 'джейл', but after I checked those facts I replaced everywhere.
'тюрьма' is very weird and not suitable in official communication. Also FreeBSD kernel has object 'prison' in jail implementation. Jail in general is not good choice for naming from marketing point of view, it has negative meaning.
{F130119038} In uploaded file scan from Russian edition of Absolute FreeBSD 2004 year.
As I see now, usually, when I use some word with unclear meaning, I put English word in parenthesises first time. Here I omitted it. May be it makes it clearer for readers?
