I'm not sure if I understand these. This is not renaming whl file, but following the whl file the PYPI module wants.

BTW, I'm not sure if doing jail_attach() in args_parse() is a common or good practice.
If would be perfect if you want to add a simple test under tests/
I have been thinking also add Submitted by: back to prepare-commit-msg but with (deprecated) notice, or even adding to the post-receive hook to emit a warning.

Oh, "Approved-by" needs pre-commit hook change.
For PR: as it's not changed so I think there is no affect for the hooks for notifying Bugzilla and mailing lists (dev-commits-*). But for MFC-after I suggest let's check if https://github.com/gonzoua/mfctracker and https://github.com/sobomax/mfc_notifications can handle it.
I can confirm this fix the building issue with gcc12.

Does it make sense if we move the mapping to an external place like download.freebsd.org or somewhere else? (We can even create firmware.freebsd.org if needed.)
My concern is that once it's in the base it's hard to modify the list and also means that it's hard to do changes in the ports.
