@bcr could you review this one?

Minor typo.

Someone pointed out that this history section was wrong. At least basename(1) existed in 3bsd as far as I can check the CSRG archive. Can you revisit this?

banner is on the 3BSD tape.
It's also in pwb 1.0
It's in 6th Edition research unix.
There's also half a dozen similarly named programs in the Usenix tapes from the 80s.

But apart from minor font differences between 3BSD tape and the latest FreeBSD, it's the same program modernized.
The pwb version was different than the ones on the Usenix tapes, and was also different from the BSD one, but nearly identical to the V6 one.

tl;dr: This should be .At 6 I think.

This actually appeared in research unix 7th edition.

There's a vmstat program in 3bsd, and all the 4BSDs I have expanded.
There's not one in research unix (which makes sense), nor in the extant copies of 32V we have, though 32V's subsequent pager means it likely had a similar program though I've not looked heavily for it.

This revision now requires changes to proceed.Jun 21 2021, 2:16 PM

Oh, I see this is closed, I'll just make the corrections.

Fixes to this differential are already committed.
