I think this is OBE with recent changes to add ZFS and UFS support simultaneously for virtual machine image builds.

I'll update the thermite.sh script to handle this. I should get it done in the next day or so, but failing that it will be done after this week's 14.0-ALPHA1 builds.
Note, parts of release/Makefile.mirrors will need to change as well, notably in 'vm-stage-images'. I will take a look at this during the week. Though, I think your compatibility symlinks resolves the immediate thing regarding the 'ftp-stage' target I am thinking of.
