The authors file was added to give nice git log output when using
git-svn. Since the repository has been converted to Git, it is no
longer useful.

Pretty sure the authors files is no longer useful, but added a review in case there is something that I'm unaware of.

I think this is right , but hold off until uqs@ says OK

I think I wasn't aware you did this for ports until just now (!)

With the ports repo converted to git I agree it no longer serves a purpose.
