The --path-warnings flag is no longer supported, so removed it. While
here, include DOC_LANG, to show how documentation for subset of
languages can be built.

Are you saying to remove the quotes and add a comma between en and es. I'm checking because there is an example just after Example 9 (which for some reason isn't labelled like the other examples) in the same chapter that says make DOC_LANG="en fr" pdf-books. Also, make DOC_LANG="en es" HUGO_ARGS="--verbose --debug" works.
% make DOC_LANG="en es" HUGO_ARGS="--verbose --debug" . . . | EN | ES -------------------+------+------- Pages | 1184 | 75 Paginator pages | 0 | 0 Non-page files | 804 | 4 Static files | 3086 | 3086 Processed images | 0 | 0 Aliases | 1 | 0 Sitemaps | 2 | 1 Cleaned | 0 | 0

I always use it in this way:
make run DOC_LANG="en,es"
I never used DOC_LANG="en es"
If you tried and worked, go ahead then :)
