I can see about submitting this upstream but IMO it's trivial to carry as a local patch if that does not happen.

@emaste I just committed the change upstream. Do you want me to bring it in to the vendor branch on FreeBSD now or is it safe to wait for the next sendmail release import?

Either is fine with me; if you're willing to bring it in on the vendor branch and then merge I think that would be great.
