cloud-init no longer depends on boto since 0.7.5 [1][2], released in
Apr 2014 so it should not be deprecated.

0.7.5 wasn't released last year. that's just when the tag was imported from bazaar into Github.
it was released eleven years ago: https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/cloud-init/0.7.5-0ubuntu1

Yes, as I already mentioned, 2014 is absolutely eleven years before 2025.
