Summary

Supplemental to D36520:

  • primarily to remove the section for 13.0, which is EOL
  • a few corrections (for example, the general advice about mirror sites is misplaced under FreeBSD 12.3-STABLE)
  • narrower column headings should improve the tables on smaller displays
  • a few other improvements
  • generally less verbose.
Test Plan

Mentors: @carlavilla and @gjb

https://reviews.freebsd.org/D36520#829374:

I just noticed, the 13.0 section at https://www.freebsd.org/where/#download-rel130 must be removed.

Would reviewers like a broader diff, to include an edition of website/content/en/where.adoc? Or continue as is, then a separate review for Download FreeBSD a.k.a Get FreeBSD?

Is there an HTTPS alternative to this ftp:// URL?

If not: make it more immediately clear that this is FTP.

grahamperrin retitled this revision from where.adoc: remove 13.0; plus other corrections and improvements to where.adoc: corrections and improvements.

⋯ sorry, the diff is not what it should be. (I sometimes have difficulty with Git.) ⋯

Some comments: done.

Comment https://reviews.freebsd.org/D36523#inline-224647 (not done) no longer links to the relevant line. I guess, there's no way to avoid this with Phabricator.

Thanks for this!!!

Found: an HTTPS alternative to the ftp:// URL. More user-friendly, since some web browsers no longer support FTP.

@carlavilla thanks for approval. Assuming no objection (it seems non-contentious), I'll roll this post-approval edit into a diff for commit.
