While I don't oppose removing this, I also don't make any specific effort to remove these tags when making cross-tree changes.
In this case, NetBSD made some changes locally and it was easier to copy their version than replicate it.

No worries.
The FreeBSD copy of the file is the authoritative copy. It doesn't need to track the version info from downstream consumers and confuses lineage needing further investigation in history.

In this case, NetBSD made some changes locally and it was easier to copy their version than replicate it.

But the diff after copying the file in to place in the FreeBSD tree would have indicated that there were two differences, the additions from NetBSD and the RCS tag, right?
