Probably, the right thing to do for this 4M flash device is to move rootfs into a target that can be directly put onto a usb stick. There's no chance we're ever fitting in < 4M flash.

Switch over to USB.

Looks like this works, and I can get to the uboot (hornet) prompt on
my box. Unclear how to flash the device at this time, but by god, it works
