I have tested this patch, and it is clearly an improvement over snap 2026-07-20 which will insta-panic on umass/XHCI traffic.

I have tried very hard to plug/unplug a number of different umass devices.

I did mange to end up with a da0 which would not die, until I unplugged the USB-hub it had been connected to before it disappeared, but I think we had that issue also before.

As far as I'm concerned, this should be committed, preferably so it makes it into the next 16.0 snapshot.
