Summary

This diff contains the spanish trasnlation of the FAQ.

There are a few translations that were kind of a problem, when In doubt I tried to remain consistent with the translations for the Leap Seconds and NanoBSD articles.

Some ZFS-related technical terms were left untranslated, so were the errors.

Adding Warren to the list of subscribers.

Test Plan
  1. Apply the patch (svn patch es_faq.diff <path/to/documentation/tree> ).
  2. Change to the FAQ directory ( cd doc/es_ES.ISO8859-1/books/faq/ ).
  3. Create the new book.xml file ( make tran ).
  4. Build the HTML documents ( make ).

This is supposed to be credits for who did the translating (you), in the format shown above. We don't have anything that shows them at present, but it still should be present in the file.

demian.fc_gmail.com removed rD FreeBSD doc repository - subversion as the repository for this revision.

Correctly set translation credits.

Check your translation will take some time...

I realize the FAQ is very long. Believe me, it took a long time to translate as well.
I had the habit of translating a fixed number of sentences (about 100) each day. Some sort of fixed routine like that might help you review the document and not loosing motivation in the process.
Just a tip :)

And thanks again for showing interest!

es_ES.ISO8859-1/books/faq/es_ES.po

Fixed! Let me know if the format is ok.

I get a warning when trying to make tran:
`Warning: Could not merge es_ES translation for msgid:
This is recommended when running...`

There are four of these warnings.

demian.fc_gmail.com, could you run make po and see if it is different from the existing one? This might be due to updates to the FAQ since you generated the original PO. Thanks!

Update to fix errors encountered during building:

  • Fixed the formatting for the translation credits.
  • Fixed a few markup errors that appeared in the last diff.

This was my fault. It looks like I accidentally erased a few "<" characters during the last update. I tried building this version and the errors appear to be fixed. Could you try again with the newest diff? Thanks!

Ah, that works.

I removed that obsolete translation at the end of the PO file. For review, the rendered version is here:

Good work, demian.fc_gmail.com!

I would introduce the following change at the beginning

- Se han hecho muchos esfuerzos para hacer este...
+ Se han realizado muchos esfuerzos para hacer este...

What do you think? Are you agree?

Some words are written with diacritical accents when they have interrogative or exclamatory sense (e.g. "que" should be "qué").

demian.fc_gmail.com marked an inline comment as done.

Corrected a few spelling mistakes (diacritical accents ) and a few minor formatting issues.

Yes, I think it's better that way.

I've corrected those in the new version, as well as some mistakes I found reading the HTML of the finished version. Let me know if everything is ok. If you find any other particular errors in the translation you can make a comment in particular line of the diff and mark it as a "to be done" comment. This is a phabricator feature.

Thanks!

IMHO the Spanish FAQ is ready to go :)

Thanks Demian

Committed! However, I forgot to include the review number in the commit message, so it will not close this review.

The good news is that there are four lines that were marked "fuzzy" in the translation and are still English in the resulting translated XML file. These appear to be changes to the English FAQ that happened recently.

Please update your doc tree, run make po again, and update those four translations. It might be necessary to mark them "not fuzzy". Then I'll commit those and try to remember to enter this review in the commit message.

Thanks to both of you for all your work on this!

  • Do not mark correct translations as "fuzzy".
  • Minor spelling mistakes.

Hi, Warren, I attached a new diff (which is now in itself a diff to the .po file that is already in the tree) that removes the "fuzzy" translations. I've checked those lines in the rendered document and they appear to be translated.

Let me know if there is anything else.

That last diff was exactly how this is all supposed to work! Muy bueno!
