This looks fine. I have issues with the NO_ROOT name, since it is an old-school construct. However, that isn't a blocking issue and is beyond the scope of this review.

I've confirmed this hasn't been landed, nor is there similar code in -current... This looks like a dropped ball, tagging with srcmgr.
