The FreeBSD Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit dedicated to advancing FreeBSD through both technical and non-technical support.
Funded entirely by donations, the Foundation supports software development, infrastructure, security, and collaboration efforts; organizes events and developer summits; provides educational resources; and represents the FreeBSD Project in legal matters.

==== OS Improvements

In the third quarter of 2026, there were 530 `src`, 82 `ports`, and 19 `doc` commits sponsored by the FreeBSD Foundation.

==== Advocacy

In the third quarter of 2026, our advocacy efforts focused on expanding our educational video content, engaging with the FreeBSD community, and preparing for the upcoming FreeBSD Vendor Summit.
We also continued highlighting the people, projects, and initiatives that support FreeBSD's growth and long-term success.
Here are a few of the ways the Foundation advocated for FreeBSD in Q3 2026:

* Represented FreeBSD at link:https://events.eurobsdcon.org/2026/[EuroBSDCon 2026], with Alice Sowerby, Program Manager at the FreeBSD Foundation, joining Pierre Pronchery and Peter Hansteen to present a full-day tutorial, link:https://events.eurobsdcon.org/media/2026/submissions/RER8UZ/resources/The_Night_Before_CRA-mas_VIvaRzT.pdf[The Night Before CRAmas -- Why EU Regulations Are a Gift to Open Source], covering the EU Cyber Resilience Act (CRA) and its implications for FreeBSD vendors.
