For testing shortfall, a modified sysbench which uses NCPU threads to write large NOSYNC-mapped files. This effectively forces all of system memory through the laundry queue; in testing on a system with 16GB of RAM, the laundry thread is able to write pages at 200-250MB/s to an SSD backing a UFS filesystem. This same test on HEAD caused occasional low-memory deadlocks, though it's been several months since it was last attempted.
