Transmission Qt clients are the only ones that can act as its own self-contained
session (as the GTK+ client do), and can also connect to the daemon flavor (as
the transmission-web and transmission-cli clients do).
Use Case 1: If you like to run BitTorrent for a while from your desktop, then
the GTK+, and one of Qt clients are a good match.
Use Case 2: If you like to leave BitTorrent running nonstop on your desktop,
server or router, and want to control it from your desktop or from a remote
site, then transmission-daemon plus the WEB and/or Qt and/or CLI clients are a
good match. | |||||
To use a Qt client as a transmission-daemon client, go to menu Edit > Change
Session. | |||||
Alternatively, third party clients for transmission-daemon are available in the
ports tree: | |||||
- net-p2p/transmission-remote-gui, with Qt4, Qt5, and GTK+ interfaces
- net-p2p/tremc, with ncurses interface
