Summary

This installs to /usr/local/lib/python3.6/site-packages/python_plugin.so but perhaps we should use a dedicated plugin directory.How can we take this and implement it for other plugins?

This seems to be a long standing issue dating back to 2015 https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=197492
